This unit was in many ways an integral part of the teaching receptive and productive skills, which began in the previous unit ? with receptive skills ? and finished in this respective unit with productive skills. Productive skills, speaking and writing, are substantially different but are used for the same everyday purpose ? to communicate. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the author (or authors) of this unit booklet as it is true that writing is the neglected skill in the TEFL world and during my experience teaching I think it is not just teachers whom don?t like to ?waste? classroom hours on writing, but also parents too! However, I will continue to apply various methods and applications to my lessons by utilising recognisable childhood games to engage my students to try and write more within teaching and classroom hours.
