Reading this unit brought me back to my first years of starting to learn Chinese, that reading and listening are equally important, as the other skills (productive (speaking and writing)) are too. This unit being nice and short wasn't too hard to get through, and for me provided a decent 'academic' approach to my previous knowledge based on experience through learning a new language. The motivation of students is important, and I'm learning through this TEFL course that if you from the very start provide a decent foundation and asset of texts/topics for the students to keep them interested and motivated, their receptive skills (and productive skills) will improve vastly, which in turn will provide me as the teacher with confidence and a positive attitude.
