I can relate many aspects of this lesson to when I was learning Spanish in high school. The vocabulary that was easiest to remember was the words that were most similar to their English counterparts. If a Spanish vocabulary word we learned resembled one we already knew, it was easier to grasp and absorb.
When teaching language functions, the 'activate' stage is the most crucial for students. Engaging and studying language functions will enable a student to properly learn the material. But it's not until the 'activate' stage that the students become confident in the use of their newly learned linguistics.
