This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I understood the structure of the past tenses. We have four past tenses: the past simple, the past continuous, the past perfect and the past perfect continuous. The past simple is used for a past action when the time is given, when the time is asked about and when the action clearly took place at a definite time even though this time is not mentioned. The Past continuous is mainly for interrupted past actions. The past perfect is the past in the past. And the past perfect continuous is not very common. It is to talk about longer actions or situations in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment that we are thinking about.
