This unit discusses the three ways the English language can be accessed: tutorials, evaluations by students, and tests. Various tests include placement, diagnostic, progress, practice, or achievement/exams. The placement test is used by the teacher to get an understanding of the students previous knowledge and vocabulary/fluency level. This test is usually exam split into two sections: writing and speaking. Diagnostic tests are type of tests taken at the beginning of the course to get an understanding of the students abilities. Progress and practice tests usually include a balance of all four skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening). They can be done throughout the course and particularly before larger exams for preparation.
