Unit 11 talks about receptive skills to get a deeper understanding of student learning. After discussing how important reading and listening (the receptive skills) are, it goes into details about different reasons why we read or listen, and different types of receptive skills. We can read or listen on different levels, depending on the purpose. The unit also shows the most common problems that can occur while teaching receptive skills and it also helps pointing out some solutions. After these information it shows an example of an outline of a straight arrow ESA lesson about receptive skills which is really useful to be able to plan lessons in the future.
