A number of different tenses and ideas can be used with future meanings. The most common seven are as follows; The future simple, the future continuous, the future perfect, the future perfect continuous, Be going (going to the future), the present simple and the present continuous. The going to the future and the present continuous are frequently used whereas The present simple and the present continuous are normally used as present tenses but also have future applications. As teachers we need to grasp the different usages of each of the above sentences so that it becomes easier for us to teach our learners to understand the tenses and also give them as many examples as possible. With this knowledge students get to appreciate the different usages for each tense and will apply them as required. Teachers should also watch out for the most common errors and mistakes made by students while using the different tenses, as this will give them time before hand to prepare on how to correct these errors and mistakes. Some tenses are commonly confused with others. This should be noted and clear explanations with examples given to the students to ensure that they get it right. Teacher should ensure that their main lesson objective should be achieved at the end of the lesson where by students are able to differentiate the tenses and produce sentences and dialogue using the most suitable tenses.
