This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
1. Overview Unit 20
Unit 20 deals with a few common problem situations in the classroom such as facing the first lesson with a group; the importance of using 'warmers' to get students motivated and in the mood for English; how to cope with students of different levels of English language competence in the same class; coping with large classes; how to address the use of native language (L1) during the lesson; helping and motivating reluctant students and finally stressing the necessity to improve students' listening skills.
2. What I learnt
What I learnt from this particular unit is that certain problems in the classroom do occur, it's part of TEFL. The problems can, however, be solved with enough patience, experience and wisdom!
Thank you for all the information and advice during this course enabling me to start a new career as TEFL teacher.
