In this unit, I learned the basics of authentic course materials as well as how to be creative in creating my own ways to teach students the lesson at hand. It's important to understand my goal and aim before I choose whether to use authentic materials or my own created materials. I believe that there definitely needs to be a balance between the two. Authentic materials are standard and therefore as a teacher I can be able to have a gage of what level my students are at on average. But, created materials create a more fun and new feeling in the classroom rather than reading from chapters day in and day out. I believe that in a lesson if I can incorporate a little bit of course book work as well as some role plays or crossword puzzles then the students will be able to absorb the material and have fun too.
