This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Another great unit which enables me to learn a lot of useful classroom management techniques!! In my past teaching, most of my classrooms were arranged as a whole group where students sit in orderly rows, so that they could focus more on my presentation and the important points, but I ignored the benefits of a dynamic classroom setting: small grouped seats will not only encourage more student talk time but also assist weaker students in an intimate way. To make more effective instructions, I really feel that using simple words, giving simple instructions are helping a lot and it is a really good idea to have students explain back which I normally neglected. One more note on classroom discipline, I have established a good rapport with students but was very often frustrated by the noise and have to spend a lot of time to calm students down, I probably should consider using more gestures, and err on the control side in early stages if I am having a new class.
