This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit discusses the most common problem situations that teachers can confront in the classroom and also suggest ways of dealing with them in a more productive manner. Many teachers face different problems in their first lesson. This lesson is important for the teacher to establish relationship with the students and set up the tone for the rest of the course. There are two main categories of such classes:
. New group- This group comprises of students that do not know each other and may be unfamiliar with EFL methodology. Some activities will be needed to create rapport between the students.
. Existing group- In this kind of group, the student likely know each other and are familiar with EFL methodology. I have learnt other methods that can be used when faced with a group of students with varying level. I have also learnt how to deal with large classes, reluctant students, students with difficulties with listening to texts and the use of native language by students during class activities.
