In this unit we are being introduced to ways of composing and gathering materials that will be used in classroom. There are things to be considered while gathering information for either authentic materials or non-authentic materials. Teachers need to make sure that the materials cover the need, usage, and contain real life situation as it might help students to apply it in their business life easier. Add and introduce some of the authentic materials like company's presentation or memos will definitely make the class more colourful, therefore students will be more excited to join the class.This lesson covered the many theories techniques involved in teaching English. I found the methodology of Jeremy Harmer to be the most helpful as I have experienced many of the others while studying other languages over the years. I have done drills, flash cards, role play, silent method, and then traveled abroad to test my knowledge and use my skills with much polite correction from the natives. So I have been in the shoes of being a non fluent speaker and understand why Harmers methods have been successful.It is a balance of free fluency practical application and working out the mistakes.
