In this unit the two types of materials used in the classroom and their advantages and disadvantages were discussed. They are:
1. Authentic materials. These materials were produced for use outside of the classroom. They can be adapted into the lesson to expose the students to realistic situations. I think that their lack of predictability would make the class more interesting.
2. One disadvantage is that because it was not produced for use in the classroom it may take one longer to source appropriate material for the lesson being taught and so may not be in a user friendly format for the students.
The unit went on to discuss why you should have a lesson plan, how it should be structured and how you should use it.
