This unit is about how to teach receptive skills, reading and listening.These two skills are often used for a particular purpose or for entertainment. I learned that there are different skills that should be used during reading and listening, like predictive skills, skimming, scanning, detailed information and deduction from content.In teaching these skills a teacher should pre-teach vocabulary without over doing it, choose texts carefully and use both authentic and non authentic materials.Topics chosen for the class should be interesting for all, and a variety of topics should be used that over time all students are catered for. Teachers should be able to create interest over the topics. Tasks should not be too easy or too hard for students, just challenging and achievable.
