This unit discusses methodologies to teaching English. There are several methods but there is not one method better than the other. A key factor is that anxiety and stress need to be low for a student to learn effectively. Jeremy Harmer suggested an effective method to motivate students to learn. This is called the ESA methodology. Engage,study and Activate components.
This method of teaching with these components allow the teacher to have much flexibility.
All of the study materials given to the students must follow this method. There are options to how the ESA method may be utilized. It may be in the ESA order or the Straight Arrow or Patchwork methodology for instance.
