In this unit, videos of model lessons emphasising the difference between a good lesson and a bad lesson was covered. I found this very useful and provided a lot ideas and techinques and eye-openers about my own teaching style. It was easy to see how the teachers attitude effects the student's motivation, confidence and willingness to participate. Also, it was useful to see the ESA type lesson in action. It showed how eliciting answers from students helped carry the flow of the lesson and how building on top of the engage phase helped to create the structure and vocabulary used in the study and activate stage. I learnt a lot from this unit, especially about how teacher's attitudes affects the learners in a a major way.
From this I took away a lot about how I should present myself in class and the small things that a teacher can do in order to create a good classroom environment that encourages students to learn and use the new language being taught.
