In this module, grammar as parts of speech is not entirely difficult per se especially in our day to day conversation. However, in teaching, it means otherwise.
Therefore, in order to teach English effectively, knowledge of grammar and using it in the right places is critical. Basic knowledge of what grammar is - Noun, Adjectives, Articles, Verbs, Gerunds, Pronouns, Prepositions/Conjuntions is a must.
In any of the above, there is definitely a case of uniqueness.
An example of irregular verbs, 'Beat', the past simple and past principle do not end with -ed.
Beat - Beat - Beaten - Beating. The videos shown in Unit 10 were a clear example of how a teacher?s attitude and knowledge effect the students? learning. In the first video, the teacher had a very demeaning attitude, told the students that the words can and could are ?the same?, simply because he didn?t know the answer, and was incredibly inactive during the independent practice periods. In comparison, the teacher?s attitude in the second video was supportive and cheerful, and the use of groups of two students allowed students to practice S-S interaction, rather than only individual and poor T-S interaction.
