This unit contains information about reasons and methods for evaluation of the English language with students and classes. Evaluation is beneficial to both student and teacher. By monitoring the progress of learning in English, assessing improvements or difficulties, teacher and student can get an overview of what area's are good and which can be improved, as well as allowing the teacher to prepare and form a lesson designed to improve areas of difficulty. Practice tests allow practice for achievement tests/external examinations, taken for purposes of studying, working or living abroad or other international and possibly business pursuits. Besides tests there are tutorials which can be done individually or in groups to address the covered language and potential problems. Evaluation by students through surveys or guided discussions can allow the teacher to see what students might be missing or struggling with in a class.
