Teaching aids in the classroom are useful for making a lesson more effective and and interesting. In most classrooms, there should be a whiteboard/blackboard. Board-work should be planned out, clear and concise. This makes the written work easier to understand and refer back to. With the advance in technology there are newer classroom aids that prove to be useful as well. The interactive whiteboard can capture the students attention . However, the teacher should know how to use this equipment and have a backup plan if they are unable to use the IWB. Visual aids and worksheets are also very common aids. Visual aids are used at prompts at the beginning of a lesson to introduce new vocabulary or a topic. There are a plethora of resources for a teacher including the internet and online dictionaries. The media can also be useful in learning english and there are many websites linked to this unit.
