Tense means time. Essentially there are three periods of time: past, present, and future. There are, however, finer points to these time periods: four per time frame. Tense is one of the most challenging aspects to language acquisition. An example is that although present tense is about current activities, it also includes linking past actions to the present, which is part of the deeper exploration of the tense. Using the Engage, Study, and Activate lesson planning system, especially by personalizing the lessons with questions and conversations about the students lives, will help the students understand and retain what they've learned.
