I personally know that in my teaching I may gear lessons towards one type of skill more than another and I need to better balance all types of language skills in a lesson to reach students of all levels and abilities. Reading is the easiest skill I think for most students and is the easiest skill to incorporate in class. As a result, I tend to use less listening skills in my lessons outside of students generally listening to me. If I can incorporate more activities that require students to listen - things like interviews, podcasts or descriptive storytelling - then I can engage students in a different manner and better prepare them for the future.
