People have different reasons for wanting to learn English as a foreign language, but it is up to the teacher to create the motivation for learning a lesson. There should be an Engage activity that fires up the students' interest in what will be presented. Enthusiasm for the topic on the part of the teacher can be a motivator and hopefully the engage phase will encourage the students to participate actively and enthusiastically with what will follow.
