In this unit, the subject of receptive learning id explored, with specific reference to the specialist skills of prediction,scanning, skimming,in addition to detailed information and deduction of context. This unit also details the factors crucial to dealing with potential language difficulties, specifically, pre-teaching, the careful selection of text, the generation of interesting topics, creating interest, and tasks which are suitable to the language level of the class. These aforementioned features are very important in helping students to learn difficult and unknown language. Once again, the ESA teaching model is used in illustrating the points that are integral to teaching receptive skills.
From this unit, I have learned the factors and principles crucial to teaching receptive skills to both lower-level and pre-intermediate language level classes.
