This unit discussed how to effectively teach different groups of people such as beginners, individuals, young children, business groups, and multilingual groups. The teacher should have a different approach to each of these groups because they have various needs, wants and capabilities. I plan to use this course to teach individual students and young children, so these sections were especially useful for me. Individual lessons can be flexible and more laid back, but one must also be careful not to prompt the student too much. From experience with tutoring, I have found that it is easy to give the student too much guidance instead of allowing them time to determine the answer for themselves. It is important to have patience and allow them space to test their ability without assistance.
