This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I teach English to Japanese students and what most beginners find difficult is the past form of the irregular verbs. Since there is no particular rule on how the base form of irregular verbs change into their past forms, it can be quite frustrating for the students to understand this system and thus could possibly dampen their motivation to learn. It is therefore imperative that we create activities during the activate phase that would encourage memory retention in fun and creative ways like implementing it in the form of games, interview role-plays, etc. In particular, I think implementing the memory game and its variations would be helpful for memory retention where the objective is to match the base form to their past forms. If we could turn something as tedious as memorizing numerous irregular verbs' past forms into something fun and interesting, then that task would not seem too intimidating for the students.
