This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In Unit 20, I learned many methods for troubleshooting, whether it is for a large class, or a small class, a new class or not, there are solutions for each of these challenges. I liked the Warmer section, playing hangman, the memory game, or pictionary, I found this to be very useful. Sometimes we will have new students come in through out the month, as former students leave. I always struggled with this. I will use these Warmer techniques to help integrate my new student into the class.
I liked how there was a solution to establishing rapport with the class. The first day of class is always scary for both new students and the teacher. No one really knows each other. Establishing rapport is the key to this. The methods offered in this unit are helpful and I will definitely apply it when the time comes.
I wish the section on listening was more concise. I found it lacked methods and should be worked on. There are many new methods using podcasts and Youtube that aid students when it comes to listening. The Listening to text section didn't talk enough about resources as they did in previous units.
