This unit focused on the productive skills being speaking and writing. These are equally important to reading and listening. They are the more visible of the skills but just as important. There are many ways to do speaking and writing skills. It also discussed the difference between accuracy and fluency in a language. Accuracy being the correct use of the language and this is usually done during the study phase of the lesson and can be either controlled, i.e. drilling or prompting, or guided being model dialogue or guided role-play. Fluency being the ability to talk without needing to stop often for the next word. This is usually practiced during the activate phase of the lesson.
