Evaluations in several forms are key in helping students progress. The diagnostic or placement test will provide a starting point for teacher generated lessons and textbook materials. Just as important are consistent evaluations or progress tests. There may be times when the lessons are not producing the desired learning progress, so adjustments may need to be made in lesson planning. The progress test can give teachers the direction to go to improve instruction.
Since some organizations require an entrance test, it is also wise to be familiar with the external examinations offered world-wide. In my teaching experience I have used Cambridge testing, and have found them to be easy to work with and efficient at providing excellent testing materials.
