This unit focused on managing a classroom, both from the perspective of running lessons and from the perspective of managing students. This lesson also focused on the proper distribution of Teacher Talk Time and Student Talk Time. Unsurprisingly, both have their inherent benefits, but too much of one can be harmful to student's growth. I think this section underplays how important Teacher Talk Time is when introducing new concepts. Psychological research has indicated that the first thing we have in our minds on a certain topic is very hard to dislodge. Therefore, leaving a new concept up to students to interpret runs the risk of a misinterpretation taking hold as the student's understanding of that concept.
