This unit was based on the importance of assessing a students level of language and gaining feedback from the students. In order to assess a students language level, teachers can use tutorials, evaluation by students and tests. Placement tests are taken to determine the entrance level of students. Then at the beginning of the course diagnostic tests helps the teacher to extract what the students already do and do not know. Progressive tests are given to check if the student remembers what he has learnt and should include a balance of all skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening as well as grammar and vocabulary). Then there are practice tests which are designed to match the format of external examinations such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOFIC and Cambridge Assessment examinations.
