Unit 15: In Unit 15 I was presented with Placement and Testing. It is important of a teacher to know the language level of their students. There are different test evaluate each individual. A placement test is given before a class even begins, this is to insure that the student is at the correct level of class and surrounded by other students with the same grasp of the language as well. Diagnostic tests are similar to placement tests but, differ in the fact that they are usually more detailed than a placement test. They also indicate to the teacher what are the areas of focus the student need. A progress test is designed to help the teacher know how students are improving or not improving throughout the length of a course. External examines are given outside and not connected to a language school. They are given to evaluate a students proficiency of the English language before being accepted into a school, such as a university.
