Each ESL teacher will be faced with a set of challenges unique to their particular classroom(s). ESL teachers can be prepared with sets of techniques recommended for almost every potential problem that could arise. For example, if teaching a classroom in which students are at mixed English language levels, teachers can use different tasks for the same materials. If students are reluctant to participate in an ESL classroom, teachers can give them assignments for home as opposed to in front of the class, in hopes the student gain more confidence. Large classrooms can be a challenge for teachers to find time to effectively connect with all students. Techniques to solve this include choral drilling, worksheets and paired group work.
