In Unit 5, I learned how to manage a classroom. I learned about the different ways of doing so such as making eye contact, giving gestures and using my voice. This is done to maintain discipline, show students they're all involved, to indicate who's turn it is to talk, to convey the meaning of language, etc. I also learned about grouping classes and how it depends on classroom size, number of desks, physical space, etc. and the different setups such as orderly rows, circles and horsehoes and separate tables in relation to the teacher's position. I learned about writing on the board and how I should use an overhead projector as much as possible and about teacher/student talk time along with why I shouldn't let one student hog my attention.
