This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
During unit 12 I have learned that it is very important to know all your students and to know where they come from, so that you can have an idea of their alphabet and their way of writing for example in Arabic you write from right to left using a very different alphabet. I understand that students should learn speaking and writing, but I am a bit unsure as to which one we teach first. Through my experience of teaching in the UAE I have learned that these two go hand in hand, as the student can not write without him/her knowing the alphabet but also the student can't learn unless he/she understand what you are saying. During this unit I see that these two are very important, same as reading and listening.
