Unit 20 covered common problems that can occur in the classroom such as first lessons, large classes, reluctant students, different levels and listening exercises. It was good advice to start off the first lesson by finding out more about the needs and skills of the students rather than jumping into the course book. Building a rapport is also important and can be provide the structure for a classroom where students feel comfortable with each other and the teacher. Warmers help to continue making the students comfortable and ready to use English before each lesson. Listening exercises are difficult but (it was important to realize) necessary. The recommendation to go over possible problematic vocabulary beforehand is useful since doing so can give the students more confidence before beginning the listening exercise.
