I've always wanted to understand how the pronunciation guides in a dictionary work, and so I was happy with the knowledge I gained in this chapter. As someone who has spent equal time in the United States and the United Kingdom, I pronounce certain words in each of the dialects. This could possibly become a hinderance if I ever had a student that wanted to learn specifically one accent or the other, and so being able to break down the pronunciations for them in a way that can be objectively explained is a boon. I look forward to working out my specific way of implementing this within a classroom setting.
