This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit focused on the two productive skills of speaking and writing. The difference between accuracy and fluency activities were first discussed, and then different type of speaking activities to use in the classroom were given. These included guided, controlled, and creative activities. The unit stressed the importance of getting all students to participate, and ways to create more student interaction. An example of a speaking lesson was then given, along with suggestions for during and after the activities. Writing was then discussed, including issues that arise such as spelling, handwriting, punctuation/layout, and creative writing. A typical ESA lesson plan for creative writing was then given. The final part of the unit discussed the use of games in the classroom, including giving a list of possible games to use.
