The overview of the content of this unit specifically looked at speaking and listening skills. The unit state how equally important each skills are, and the integration of the skills in a lesson. Moreover, the unit explained the reasons for reading and listening and divided those reasons into two parts. Those two parts are: 1. For a purpose and 2. For entertainment.
Furthermore, the unit explain how we read and listen, not just simply by our eyes and ears, but actually using our minds to process it all. Then the unit listed various specialist skills readers and listeners use.
I felt that I learnt that language is divided equally in four basic skills. I am now aware on why we read and the reasons that we read and listen. I also learnt the connections to which learners of English language face listening and reading problems.
I learnt what is include in a typical receptive skill lesson (Patchwork ESA method) along with basic keys to a successful receptive skill lesson.
