This unit was helpful in the way that it broke down the various components of receptive skills. For example, predicting, scanning, skimming, etc. The many sample lesson materials helped demonstrate how these various skills could be exercised and strengthened. They also gave a lot of food for thought in terms of planning creative lessons that are engaging for a wide range of students. The lesson emphasizes that learning should be fun and engaging and gives practical strategies for this. Teachers can involve pop culture, songs, stories, news, and so much more to create engaging lesson plans that interest students and contextualize the language. This lesson was inspiring.
