This unit discusses various ways of teaching productive skills (i.e. speaking and writing). It talks about how the teacher should prepare the teaching materials, how to teach students in an effective manner, and even suggests the various kinds of games that may be used in the classroom to enhance students' learning experience. The section about teaching writing skills is very enlightening to me. Like many other teachers, I usually focus on grammar, pronunciation and speaking skills when teaching English, and see writing primarily as a homework assignment for the students. After studying this unit, I feel confident that I will be able to teach writing skills more effectively in the future.
