Unit 9 deals with the planning of a lesson. The lesson plan is a very helpful tool for the teacher as he or she can use it as a 'road map' of what students need to learn and how it will be done effectively during the available amount of time in class. Before the teacher plans his or her lesson, he or she will first need to identify the learning objectives for the class for that day. Then, he or she can design appropriate learning activities and develop strategies to obtain feedback on student learning. A successful lesson plan addresses and integrates the objectives for student learning, teaching/learning activities and strategies to check student understanding.
Specifying concrete objectives for student learning will help the teacher to determine the kinds of teaching and learning activities he or she will use in class, while those activities will define how he/she will check whether the learning objectives have been fulfilled.
