After digesting the previous unit on present tenses, it felt easier to understand the past tenses. It builds upon what we already learned about simple present, perfect, continuous, and perfect continuous, but all in the past tense. Certain key words help to identify or mark the tense that is being used. For example, past continuous \"to be\" (past form) + verb+ing, past perfect \"to have\" (past form) + past participle, and past perfect continuous \"have + been\" (past form) + verb+ing. I can visually the different layers or zones of the past tense such as in past perfect continuous forms, and this is where a visual aid or spectrum chart would help me a lot.
