There are many different tenses which may be used to refer to the future and the difference between choosing one over the other is sometimes unclear.
When researching future tenses I have encountered many generalisations that explain mainly only three tenses: simple future (will+infinitive), going to future (going to+infinitive) and the present continuous (to be+ -ing). This makes me believe that they are the most common future tenses used in British and also American English.
But we need to consider that we may express future actions using the future continuous (will+be+ -ing), the future perfect (will+have+past participle), the future perfect continuous (will+have+been+ -ing) and the present simple.
