This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Speaking and writing are the two productive skills. Students will need to be able to produce language in order to express themselves, communicate, ask for what they want to know and show interest. For speaking and writing there are two main focuses; accuracy and fluency. Accuracy is the main focus of the Study phase where the teacher is in control of the output and using the language correctly is important. Fluency is important in the Activate phase where the students are in control of the output and the speed is important. Writing skills also involve handwriting and punctuation to make a piece of writing intelligible. Like for the receptive skills, it is important to choose the topics carefully when teaching productive skills. The topics need to be relevant, appropriate and interesting to the students.
