The unit explained what receptive skills are and how to best facilitate the learning of these skills. I feel that I have learned ways to teach these skills. For example, for beginner students, it is best to find either unauthentic text that's approved for their level of English or to find authentic text with easier words that will not discourage the children. In either case, I learned that there will be words that the students may need to pre-learn before listening to the reading. The examples of lesson plans were also helpful in allowing me to begin the process of forming my own potential lesson plans.
