This unit looked at planning lessons more in depth. As a teacher, it important to be organized and have a goal (or sequence - a series of goals) for both yourself and the students. However, it is equally important to be flexible, as things in the classroom won't always go as planned. Sometimes students will really enjoy an activity and you'll want to extend the allotted time given to that particular activity. Other times, an activity may flop. Perhaps the next time you teach that lesson, you will think of a new or different activity, or a way to modify the original activity. Similarly, if students are struggling with a concept more than you had originally anticipated, you will need to allow more time for them to learn it. Lesson plans allow teachers to look back at what they've done, and modify it for the future, along with serving as a means of keeping track of where they want themselves and the class to go.
