This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The content of this unit covers the management of an ESL classroom. It states the importance of classroom control and best practices for maintaining the attention of learners. Student's seating arrangements factors heavily in the success of lessons taught especially to adolescents. Teachers may need to consider class sizes, age of students and other variables when assigning seats. The amount of time the teacher talks will effect how successful his/her lessons are as well. Students need to exercise their own ability to speak, after all that is the point of TEFL. Teachers may need to discipline trouble students and must stay within guidelines given by the school as well as chose wisely when deciding what to do to stop the behavior. This unit was very useful in giving me insight on classroom management. I learned how I can improve my tactics in my current position teaching middle schools students in Japan. Some of my students are very shy while others are very rambunctious.
