Watching the first lesson immediately made me very uncomfortable. As a student, I would have shut down and most likely not done the work in that class, because I definitely don't respond well to intimidation and people in positions of authority who act like that. It was very encouraging to see the differences in the second lesson compared to the first ,and it was very helpful to see what a good lesson looks like. It goes to show that simple things like a smile and a welcoming attitude can make all the different when it comes to classroom environment. In the second lesson, the teacher was asking the right kinds of questions, was letting the students work together and produce the answers as opposed to just writing things on the board. Overall, it's amazing to see the difference in the students, their levels of engagement, and the environment in general between the two lessons.
