This unit is based around the two ESA demonstration video-lessons. In both videos one and the same lesson is presented. But in the first video the teacher makes a lot of errors while in the second video the lesson is being taught effectively by the same teacher. The teacher has a positive and engaging attitude in the second lesson and the students respond with a high level of participation. Whilst in the first video the students are confused and intimidated. Besides the students are unable to understand the lesson point in the first lesson as they are not given a clear explanation of the lesson point. The Engage phase is effective because it involves a concept that the students understand (animals). This encourages them to participate. Also in the second lesson the teacher uses such techniques as miming and gestures to help the students produce more vocabulary and to aid their understanding.
