This unit covers the different types of equipment and teaching aids used in the classroom that can supplement the textbook. I have learned that it is important to be trained in the usage of all equipment (e.g. interactive whiteboards, overhead projectors, DVD players, video cameras, etc.) in order to make the lesson organized, functional, and successful. Additionally, I have learned when using any type of technology, it is vital to have a back up plan! Technical difficulties can (and will) happen, so a back up lesson plan is always good form when using technology in the classroom. Lastly, I have learned that supplemental teaching aids can be more interesting, engaging, and effective in the classroom. They can motivate students to be more interactive in the classroom and allow them opportunities to utilize the English language to a greater extent than when a textbook is the sole source of learning in the classroom.
